History of TARA Studio
Founded in 1977 by Artistic Director Jatinder Verma, TARA has been based at 356 Garratt Lane in Earlsfield since 1983. Originally named 'The TARA Arts Centre,' the venue staged a wide variety of events from theatre performances to dance, music and art exhibitions.
Pressures of funding soon forced the studio to be used primarily as a rehearsal space. In March 2007, the studio was re-opened as a theatre venue with the aim of creating a development space for emerging artists.
