touring 2013 - 2014

UK Touring in association with Tara Arts presents

IAN McMILLAN’S GRUFF GUIDE TO LOST AND FORGOTTEN WRITERS with Clare Salaman (nyckelharpa / hurdy gurdy)

This is a journey down literary roads rarely trod to distant & beguiling destinations, with much laughing and revealing of lost writers along the way! With music devised and performed by Clare Salaman (nyckelharpa / hurdy gurdy). Poet, comedian & broadcaster Ian McMillan presents The Verb every week on BBC R3 and is a regular on Coast, Pick of the Week, The Arts Show, Last Word and You & Yours.

Ian conjures a brilliantly comic journey of rediscovery of some of the world’s great Lost and Forgotten writers, accompanied by musician Clare Salaman and the audience.

'beautiful, vehement playing' Daily Telegraph

Music, storytelling and a warm dollop of audience interaction centres around the 'vulgar species' that is man from the classic novel by almost lost and forgotten writer, G.V. Desani and his eccentric novel All About H Hatterr.

Who is H. Hatterr? was commissioned by Tara Arts, first performance 6 March 2012 at Tara Theatre, London.
