Ian McMillan is poet-in-residence for English National Opera, The Academy of Urbanism and Barnsley FC. He was recently castaway on Desert Island Discs. Last autumn, Ian was The Poetry Archive’s Virtual Poet, interacting with poets throughout the universe from his poetry portal control deck in Barnsley.
Ian currently tours with his acclaimed verse autobiography Talking Myself Home (John Murray Publishers) and The Ian McMillan Orchestra ring-mastered by Luke Carver Goss, featured on The South Bank Show and at BBC Proms Plus.
Ian's latest books are a new collection of poems, This Lake Used to be Frozen: Lamps (Smith / Doorstop Books) plus T’Olympics and 101 Uses For A Yorkshire Pudding (Dalesman) with cartoonist Tony Husband. IAN McMILLAN'S WEBSITE.
Clare Salaman is a multi instrumentalist and composer and plays violin, baroque violin, hurdgurdy, nyckelharpa, medieval vielle, rebec, hardanger fiddle and accordion.
Her work covers a broad spectrum of musical roles and styles. Ongoing projects include her own groups, The Society of Strange and Ancient Instruments and SYM, The Ian McMillan Orchestra, The Harp Consort, The London Handel Players, Concerto Caladonia, Theatre of the Ayre, the Parvaz Ensemble, and a collaboration as composer and player with Ian McMillan for Tara Arts in Spring 2012.
