India & Me: An Evening with Nitin Sawhney
A rare intimate evening with multi-award winner Nitin Sawhney
Sat 28 January, 7.30pm
Multi-award winner Nitin Sawhney with Tara Arts presents an evening of music and memories related to the 70th anniversary of Indian independence.
Nitin Sawhney came to prominence back in the 90’s, firstly as “leader” of the so-called Asian Underground, a creator, writer and performer with the BBC hit series “Goodness Gracious Me” and with his prolific film score work which has now led him to compose for the latest “Jungle Book” Hollywood blockbuster from Warner Bros. “India and Me” is an insight into Nitin’s strange and varied experiences.
From coincidences that are barely explicable by conventional western thought or logic, to an array of events which include working with some of the world’s most famous artists, meetings with inspiring celebrities and politicians and a host of personal memories and stories from a career that spans 28 years in the music industry. All the above will be delivered through Sawhney’s unique prism, performance and perspective of music as a universal language.
As 2017 is the 70th year of India and Pakistan’s Independence, Tara is marking this anniversary by presenting 70 exciting and extraordinary stories. #Tara7070
