South Asian Sisters Speak & Tara Arts present Brown Girls Book Club

South Asian Sisters Speak & Tara Arts are excited to present an evening double-bill: the Brown Girls Book Club’s discussion around Meera Syal’s novel ‘Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee’; followed by creative responses to the novel by emerging South Asian women writers.

South Asian Sisters Speak (SASS) was created in 2016 by friends Sheetal Mistry & Shirin Shah. Frustrated by the lack of safe spaces for South Asian women, they launched the Brown Girls’ Book Club, using works by South Asian female authors as the catalyst for wider conversations. The writing project - a pilot 3-month project between SASS and Tara Arts - developed from the popularity of the book club. It aims to encourage modern South Asian women find their creative voices.
