Roll Over Atlantic
Crosspath presents poet John Agard on a satirical revisiting of Columbus' voyages
Tues 16 & Sat 20 October, 7.30pm
In Roll Over Atlantic, John Agard revisits the voyages of Christopher Columbus and his accidental 'discovery' of the New World.
A voyage in verse with songs, performed against an evocative soundscape of Atlantic murmurings, with Agard variously taking on the voices of Columbus, The Atlantic Ocean and The Mighty Mosquito. A one man show that mixes the tides of cabaret and calypso with mischievous satirical wit.
Directed by award-winning live literature director, Mark C. Hewitt, with especially composed music by Thomas Arnold of Stomp's Lost and Found Orchestra, this is a one-man show like no other.
Wonderfully funny…a show to be experienced. London Theatre 1
Eccentric, energetic and captivating, Agard suffuses scathing observations with wit, melancholy and mischief as he reimagines Columbus’s discovery of the new world from different points of view. Prospect Magazine
