Shakespeare in Swahili: An Illustrated talk by Edward Wilson-Lee
Wed 19 October
Edward Wilson-Lee’s remarkable book, Shakespeare in Swahililand, provides a fascinating account of Shakespeare in East Africa – where at one time there were more productions of Shakespeare in a single year than in London’s West End!
An exciting prelude to the all-Black Hamlet coming to Tara Theatre in the following week.
Brought up in Kenya, Dr Edward Wilson-Lee teaches Medieval and Renaissance literature at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
His illustrated talk will include a Q & A session, followed by book-signing.
Shakespeare in Swahililand will be available for sale at the event.
