SIGNAL FIRES: The Orchard of Lost Souls Reading
28 October, 2020
Fio in association with Tara Arts presents the Orchard of Lost Souls online reading, as part of Signal Fires, a national festival of touring theatre
UK theatre touring companies join together in a time of crisis to return to the ‘original theatre’ - storytelling around fires - to celebrate our fundamental need as humans to gather, tell stories and make sense of the world around us, so that we can collectively reimagine the future.
Fio is in the final stages of adapting The Orchard of Lost Souls' novel by Nadifa Mohamed. The Orchard of Lost Souls is a story about the Somali civil war told from the female perspective, a nine-year-old orphan, a widow and a female soldier, it is a moving piece of work as war is predominantly documented from a male gaze.
Fio are planning ‘The Orchard of Lost Souls’ tour. The play has undergone 3 years of development at ENO, The Yard (London), seed commissioned by The Royal Exchange Theatre (Manchester) The Sherman and Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff).
Fio in association with Tara Arts presents the Orchard of Souls online reading 28th October, 4 pm - 5 pm.
