Women of The Mahabharata - A Sharing

Join us for an evening of readings and music; reclaiming India's great epic The Mahabharata

Thursday 31 May

From the queen who blinded herself to the woman who defied death, seven writers and a singer/songwriter share works-in-progress on iconic female characters from The Mahabharata - India's great epic of humanity - as part of Tara's ongoing focus on reclaiming classics.

A sharing of writings by Kamila Shamsie, Preti Taneja, Razia Iqbal, Grace Nichols, Yasmine Rana, Sohini Alam and Amrit Kaur Lohia, performed by a cast of accomplished actors and musicians.

LIVESTREAM: We have teamed up again with digital partners Pilot Theatre to bring you an evening of powerful writing and performances from The Mahabharata, live from Tara Theatre in London.

On the evening, we will begin the live-stream by 7.25pm, prior to the start of the event at 7.30pm. Let us know you're watching and join the conversation on Twitter or Instagram by using #MahaWomen

This event is part of 'I'll Say It Again! A season of work by women artists'. This is a month-long festival of events including theatre, music, poetry and dance, celebrating the centenary of women's suffrage in the UK.
